Sundial Magazines Ltd is a new company with a wealth of experience and resources behind it. The company was formed in February 2001 with the objective of quickly establishing - through launch and acquisition - a stable of specialist consumer magazines in the broad market category of transport and motoring. The key personnel and shareholders of Sundial Magazines are Peter Cosgrove and Peter Warwick, who have both been in mainstream publishing for most of their working lives and were respectively Chairman and Publishing Director of Link House Magazines Ltd.
Peter Cosgrove led the successful management buy-out team that took Link House Magazines Ltd out of United Newspapers in 1995. After considerably strengthening the commercial position of the company, he negotiated the sale of the Link House business, which then included 26 magazines, plus one-offs, annuals and exhibitions, to IPC Magazines in 1998. Peter brings to bear not only his great commercial experience in building and running a sizable specialist magazine publishing company, but also considerable insight into news trade distribution, having been Chairman of United Newspapers' magazine distribution company.
Managing Director of Sundial, Peter Warwick, also played a major role in the Link House Magazines management buy-out team. He has a track record of successful launches and experience across a broad range of specialist magazines, annuals and guides. Alan Swinburne FCA, a former Finance Director of United Consumer Magazines, brings outstanding expertise to the financial and administrative functions of the company, while Company Secretary Richard Pyper CA, Finance Director of Link House Magazines Ltd in the buy-out, has extensive experience of corporate law and finance.
Sundial Magazines launched its first title, Classic Tractor, at the end of March 2001 and its second, Mercedes Enthusiast in October 2002.
